Volunteer: Breaking up concrete & blacktop

Help Improve Safety at the Thrift Store

Looking for a hands-on service project? We need a team of able-bodied volunteers to help with an outdoor improvement project behind the Thrift Store Back Sidewalk. Over the years, sections of the sidewalk and blacktop have shifted and heaved, causing rainwater to drain toward the building instead of away from it. Our goal is to remove the damaged portions, improve drainage, and help protect the facility from future water issues.

This project involves breaking up concrete and some asphalt, removing debris, and helping grade the soil around the back doors. It is physically demanding work and is best suited for volunteers who are comfortable using basic hand tools and performing moderate to heavy labor outdoors.

By volunteering, you'll make a visible and lasting impact on a facility that helps serve our community every day. If you enjoy working with your hands, tackling practical projects, and seeing immediate results from your efforts, this is a great opportunity to serve alongside others and make a difference.

Volunteer Details:

Physical outdoor work

Approximately 4–6 volunteers needed

Estimated project length: about 4 hours

No specialized skills required; a willingness to work hard is appreciated

Help us improve the property, prevent water damage, and keep our facilities safe and functional for the people we serve.
